Specialists say that what happened to the Russian airliner Tu-154 in the Russian skies on September 7th is a miracle. At the height of 10,000 metres its navigation system and electricity supply system failed, and the airliner that was on its way from Yakutia to Moscow made an emergency landing on the Izhma military air field in the Komi Republic.
The point is that the Izhma Airport, where the Tu-154 landed is not operational today. The length of its runway is only 1,300 metres while the Tu-154 airliner needs a longer runway to land. As a result, as soon as Tu-154 landed, it rolled 200 metres forward beyond the runway. There were 9 crew members and 72 passengers on board, including 3 children and one pregnant woman. Luckily, no one was hurt. One of its passengers, Alexei Grishin, says:
"We’re very thankful to the crew. They stayed calm – hence, we were calm too. We had no time to get frightened. Later, when we left the plane, we felt fear. It was simply God’s will that everything ended well. The point is that landing was carried out by hand without radio communication, and there was no contact with air traffic controllers."
As is known, numerous accidents occur to civil airliners. They occur regularly and this concerns all aviation companies. And here the human factor comes to the foreground – meaning the mastership of the crew and its ability to make decisions unassisted in a critical situation, the Editor-in-Chief of the AVIA.RU portal Roman Gusarov stresses:
"The crew was skilful enough – actually, all crew members proved top-level specialists. The passengers of the Tu-154 airliner were lucky that they had such a crew. And it is exactly thanks to the correct conduct of the crew that the landing was successful."
What occurred to the Tu-154 has become one of the most discussed topics in both the blogs and Twitter. And everything was concentrated on the proposal to the federal authorities to thank the crew and to award all crew members for their heroic deed.
Thank God, everything is over now but a careful investigation into the circumstances of this incident is yet to be conducted. Well, all’s well that ends well.
