Pirates have attacked three vessels off the coast of Somalia in the past 24 hours. The Greek Merchant Vessel OLIB G, flagged Malta, with a crew of 15 Georgians and 3 Turks, was seized on the morning of September 8th.

An attack on the Jamaican-flagged MV Miltiades was thwarted by the military. Another target was the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged Magellan Star, which was boarded by pirates, but the crew locked themselves in a safe room and called for assistance. Military ships are on their way to help. Magellan Star’s crew is believed to consist of Russian, Ukrainians, Poles, Bulgarians and Filipinos.
