The story of Silas Chandler is one of the most popular black Confederate stories on the Internet. Over the last 15 years, a narrative has developed that claims that anywhere between 10,000 and even as high as 100,000 Black Southerners willingly fought for the Confederate Army as a reflection of their loyalty to the masters. Kevin Levin from Boston, Massachusetts, who has been extensively covering the topic and Mira Chandler-Sampson, a descendent of Silas Chandler, share their take on this ambiguous historic question.
