Iraq’s Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi, who is facing charges of terrorism, said he may leave the country. He is now in the northern region of Kurdistan in Iraq.

The politician has been on the wanted list since 2011. Although he repeatedly denied all the charges, he admitted that he could not guarantee that none of his bodyguards was not involved in terrorist attacks.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court in Iraq said the involvement of al-Hashimi and his bodyguards in 150 terrorist attacks including car explosions, murders of state officials, judges and doctors, had been proved.

Sunnite al-Hashimi said the accusation against him are sectarian and it is Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, the leader of the Shiite community of Iraq, who is behind them.
