Iran's armed forces have launched large-scale military exercises aimed at boosting anti-air defenses protecting nuclear sites, the command of Iran’s anti-missile air defense forces said Monday. The four days maneuvers are to be held in the south of the country.

Earlier this month, the Iranian Corps of the guards of Islamic revolution started exercises in the Gulf of Hormuz, which links the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman.

Teheran expressed readiness to block the Strait of Hormuz if the Western countries impose sanctions on oil exports from Iran.

On January 23, the EU countries approved the embargo on Iranian oil imports. By July 1, all the EU members are to stop importing oil from Iran.
