St. Petersburg police have detained several protesters who had attempted to stage an unauthorized demonstration on PloshchadVosstaniya, Ria-Novosti reports.
The day before, news of a planned unauthorized protest march along Neva Embankment spread on social media.
Today, several dozens of protesters gathered on Ploshchad Vostaniya, one of whom started handing out blank leaflets, inviting people for a stroll along the embankment.
The activist and several other protests were arrested after the police checked their papers.
At the moment, the square is still controlled by the police who are telling protesters to disperse.
