The founder of the largest online encyclopaedia Wikipedia Jimmy Wales has been appointed a British government adviser.
The Cabinet of Ministers reports that he will advise on the use of innovative technologies in the work of its various departments. This will be an unpaid job.
Wales will also develop an online platform for communication between the government and the population, as well as create a government website listing all state services.
Wales founded Wikipedia in 2001. At present, the most popular online source of information counts over 26mln entries written by about 100,000 voluntary authors all over the world. Versions of this website are available in over 260 languages.
