Argentina said on Thursday it intends to take legal action against British companies involved in oil exploration in the Falkland Islands. Their activity in the waters near the archipelago is illegal, said Argentine Foreign Minister Hector Timmerman.
In response, London said it supported the right of the Falklands to develop its oil resources.
The Falkland Islands are located in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean, in an area controlled by Britain, but contested by Buenos Aires.
