In a telephone conversation on Tuesday President Vladimir Putin agreed to maintain regular contact with the new leader of France, Francois Hollande.
The Kremlin Press Service reports that the presidents expressed their intention to "work together to ensure the development of relations between Russia and France, and to make this a high priority."
On Tuesday, President Putin also called former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and thanked him for his many years of joint constructive work.
