Several men and a woman from the southern Russian region of Ingushetia have marked their region’s 20th anniversary by successfully scaling Mount Everest. The woman’s name is Leila Albogachiyeva, she is her region’s first ever female mountain climber.
The team installed a Russian and an Ingush flag on the summit.
Mount Everest has been scaled by over 1,200 people, including some 30 women. More than 300 climbers have found their death on the slopes of the world’s highest mountain peak.
