Participants in Moscow opposition March of Millions reached Sakharov Avenue where a rally began 30 min ahead of schedule.

Moscow March of Millions: and so it begins
The March of Millions opposition event in Moscow has begun at central Pushkin Square along the Boulevard Ring.
The number of people who are taking part in the oppositional protest campaign in the center of Moscow has reached 18,000 people, according to the report of the city department of the Interior Ministry.
“As at 2 p.m. people are coming to the Sakharov avenue, the stretch between the Garden Ring and the Turgenevskaya Square. Up to 18.000 people are taking part in the campaign”, the report read.
The expected number of participants of the “March of Millions” is 50 000 people.
Russian opposition rallies for “March of Millions” in Moscow
Participants in the Russian opposition’s protest action, the so-called “March of Millions”, which has been authorized by the Moscow City Council and is due to be held today, are gathering in Pushkin Square, in downtown Moscow.
To get to the square, the participants have to walk through portable metal detectors.
The situation has been quiet; no breach of peace has been reported so far.
Up to 50,000 people may take part in the opposition march, in keeping with their request.
The march will end in a rally on Sakharov Avenue.
Up to 12,000 police officer and Interior Ministry troops are in charge of enforcing order in Moscow on Russia Day.
