The Turkey-based channel cited Free Syrian Army chief Riyadh al-Asaad, who claimed the embattled Syrian strongman had been injured and taken to his residence compound in Latakia.
In his Twitter blog, the militants’ leader said he was tipped off by those close to Mr. Assad.
No details were shared as to when and how the Syrian president was attacked.
Damascus didn’t confirm the information, stemming from opposition sources, that the Syrian leader had left for Latakia.
Syria’s Information Minister Imran al-Zu'bi has called on the Syrian people to stay vigilant and unite in the face of this challenge.
