Mario Monti is in Russia on a two-day visit. On Monday he will be having talks with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, after which he goes to Sochi to meet with President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Italian media, Monti’s visit to Russia is called upon to strengthen relations between Rome and Moscow. New contracts are expected to be signed with Italian companies and groups. Preparations will likewise be made for the eighth round of Russian-Italian extended consultations, and an exchange of views held on various international issues.
