A monument to those who served in three police battalions, - the punitive units of the Waffen SS Latvian Legion, has been unveiled in the central part of the Latvian city of Bauska.
The shocking piece of news appeared in the Vesti Segodnia local newspaper.
According to the publication, this is the first monument to the participants in police punitive expeditions erected in the Baltic countries .
Hundreds of civilians died at the hands of the police in question. Local legislature deputies and members of nationalist organizations attended the official unveiling ceremony.
