At the G8 summit in Northern Ireland, the United States and the European Union have launched talks on Monday to what could become the biggest bilateral trade deal in history. British Prime Minister David Cameron said it was ‘a once-in-a-generation prize’, which they were determined to seize. US President Barack Obama announced that talks on a trans-Atlantic trade and investment deal would begin in Washington next month. While the EU leaders admit the negotiations will be difficult, they believe the agreement could be reached within two years.
