Secretary General Ekmelledin Ihsanoglu believes that "the world should stop hiding behind the rhetoric of freedom of speech."
He recalled that the OIC has been seeking the adoption of such a law for over ten years.
In turn, the World Council of Churches, based in Geneva, and bringing together representatives of the various branches of Christianity, opposes such a bill.
According to the organization, the law will only work in favor of Islam and will lead to an increase in religious intolerance.
Established in 1969, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation currently unites 57 countries with a total population of around half a billion people.
