The 2,500 km range missile was launched from a mobile launch pad which is located on an island in the Bay of Bengal.
This launch comes just two days after the successful launch of the Agni-IV missile with a range of 4,000 kilometers.
At present, India possesses the Agni-I and Agni-II ballistic missiles with strike ranges of 700 and 1,500 kilometers accordingly.
