Limaj is a member of the Kosovo parliament, and commanded a major unit of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which fought for independence from Serbia in the military conflict of 1998-1999.
In the first trial, he was accused of perpetrating war crimes in the village of Klečka in 1999, but the prosecution collapsed due to the death of the main witness in May this year.
The Kosovo Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that a written testimony by the witness be taken into account.
