Those who witnessed the murder said a van stopped in the intersection, and four masked men pulled six people out of the vehicle. Then they ordered them to lie face down then shot them dead. By that time a mob filled in the street.
“They should have been killed in a more brutal fashion so others don’t even think about working with the occupation [Israel],” said one of the bystanders, Ashraf Maher, 24.
One of the corpses was tied to a motorcycle and dragged through the streets as people screamed, “Spy! Spy!”
The Hamas military wing, Izzedine al-Qassam, claimed responsibility for the deadly action.
Musa Abu-Marzuq, Deputy Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, condemned the murder and said that suspected collaborators with Israel should be punished according to the law.
The killings came on the seventh day since Israel launched a military offensive on the Gaza Strip. The operation has killed more than 120 Palestinians, both militants and civilians.
