The protesters took to the streets at the request of the February 14 Youth Coalition opposition group that is against the siege that’s been laid to the Shiite-populated Mahazza district, near the capital city.
Bahrain has been shaken by mass-scale protests since March last year, when police put down with a heavy hand Shiites’ revolt against the ruling Sunni regime.
Shiites make up 75% of Bahrain’s population.
