The United Nations budget for 2012-2013 has been increased by 5% to $5.4 billion.
The corresponding decision was approved by the UN General Assembly.
More than half of the money will go to finance UN special missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Syria and other countries.
The UN General Assembly has for the first time voted in favor of freezing the indexation of salaries of UN workers in New York.
The UN budget is formed on the basis of contributions from the organization’s member countries.
