The expert added that the address was Assad’s first speech this year triggered by active anti-crisis efforts by the global community, including Russia.
Mr Dolgov agreed with Syria’s leader that instability in the region is caused by external support of the rebels and a political solution is the only way to put an end to the conflict.
Reconciliation could be reached by providing no funds or weapons for the rebels, many of whom are supported by Al-Qaeda, the analyst said.
