Bringing down inflation remains a priority for the Russian government, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he said that Russia’s current inflation rate of 6.6% was the worst level among the developed economies.
As for economic growth, he hopes that it will exceed 3% in 2013. At the same time, he pinpointed the need to reduce the country’s dependence on raw materials exports.
Economic growth will be one of the key focus areas of Russia’s presidency of the G20, Medvedev said.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has attended a reception at the World Economic Forum in Davos where he spoke to his Georgian counterpart, Bidzina Ivanishvili, said a Russian businessman who was at the social event.
It is the first direct contact between the two heads of the government after a diplomatic rift erupted between Georgia and Russia following the 2008 armed conflict over South Ossetia.
“The Georgian Prime Minister was the first to walk up to Mr. Medvedev. They talked for several minutes,” the eye-witness told a Russian news agency.
Speaking in Davis Wednesday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev regretted apparent reluctance by the EU to bring forward visa-free travel between it and Russia.
He said visa-free travel would bring untold benefits to both sides, making them part of a single market and a single economic area covering a vast swathe between the North Atlantic and the Northwestern Pacific.
