Christian Dior fired Galliano after he was filmed making anti-Semitic statements at a Paris bar in February 2011.
In 2012, French President Francois Hollande stripped Galliano of his Legion of Honor medal because of anti-Semitic behavior.
Galliano deprived of France’s top honor
The famous British designer John Galliano has been stripped of the Legion d'Honneur, the top French award that he received in 2009.
Galliano got a suspended sentence and had to pay a 6,000-euro fine for anti-Semitic insults at a Paris bar in 2011.
He also lost his job at Dior fashion house.
Dior names chief designer to succeed disgraced Galliano
French fashion powerhouse Dior on Monday named Raf Simons as chief designer to succeed disgraced John Galliano who was fired more than a year ago for racist outbursts.
The 44-year-old Belgian Simons will be responsible for "Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear and Women's Accessories," the Paris-based fashion house said in a statement.
