Ban Ki-moon also pointed out the need for urgent humanitarian aid to be provided for the population of the Central African Republic.
The coalition government under opposition member Nicolas Tiangaye was formed in the country last Sunday.
The new government comprises both former rebels and the national president, Francois Bozize.
