Apart from Moscow and Kazan, festivities will also be held in Ufa, where Chaliapin started his professional career.
An exhibition dedicated to Chaliapin’s creative work will open at the Ufa National Museum later this week.
The festivities will culminate in the Parade of Basses concert, due to be held at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Ufa.
Ufa, the capital of the Russian republic of Bashkortostan, will host the main ceremonies to honor famous bass singer Feodor Chaliapin on the 140th anniversary of his birth, as decided by the all-Russian Glinka Museum Consortium of Musical Culture.
Chaliapin made his opera debut in Ufa in 1890. An exhibition called “The Magic Crystal of Feodor Chaliapin” will showcase his stage costumes and lots of other exhibits provided by Moscow museums. There will be a gala concert featuring leading bass singers from Russia and Belarus.

The traditional Google icon on the main page of the search engine has been replaced with an image of the musician against the backdrop of well-known theater buildings where he performed.
Google has previously hosted festive logos in honor of outstanding Russian cultural figures, for example, the famous ballerina Anna Pavlova and actors Faina Ranevskaya and Yuri Nikulin.
