The statement comes several weeks after Bokova’s visit to Timbuktu, where radical Islamists destroyed a whole array of shrines, including ancient temples, mausoleums and tombs.
The Islamists also set fire to the Ahmeb Baba Library, where a spate of unique ancient manuscripts had been preserved.
