Forty centimetres of snow has fallen in New Brunswick, while more than 60 centimetres, east of Montreal.
Wind gusts in the West of Newfoundland Island have reached 170 kilometres per hour.
Schools have been closed due to the elements. Some flights have been cancelled. Police blocked off some highways due to zero visibility and massive piles of snow.
The authorities have urged motorists to stay at home.
