The world famous Russian traveller Fyodor Konukhov is going to make his second ascend to Everest, the world`s highest mountain. He first climbed the mount 20 years ago as a member of the Lada-Everest team of alpinists. The second attempt is planned for spring. Konukhov disclosed the details in an interview with the VoR.

The Russian Academy of Sciences has named the winners of the 2011 Demidov Award for outstanding scientific achievements. They are physicist Alexander Andreev, biologist Yury Zhuravlev and geographer Vladimir Kotlyakov. Demidov Award, which is regarded as the Russian analogue of the Nobel Prize, was established back in the 19th century by Ural region’s industrialist Pavel Demidov.
