A draft law on imposing a complete ban on the consumption of alcohol before driving has been approved at the Lower House of the Russian parliament at the first reading. The initiative put forward by President Dmitri Medvedev provides for the abolition of the so-called concept of the permissible level of alcohol in a driver’s blood.

The 10 th Winter Paralympic Games are due to start on March 12 th in Vancouver, involving handicapped sportsmen of different countries, who will compete in five sports. A new world record was set by those building a bridge spanning the so-called "Eastern Bosporus Strait", between the Russky Island and Vladivostok. For over 4 days without any breaks, concrete was placed to the foundation of a 340-meter-high bridge tower, which establishes a record in the world bridge building practice, experts say.
