Russian mobile hospital helps victims of Chile quake

A Russian mobile hospital has been sent to earthquake-ravaged Chile to help the international aid effort. The hospital can treat up to 60 seriously injured people and also provide first aid for 150 a day.

On Thursday a new series of aftershocks rocked the country.

The first quake struck at the end of last month and is believed to be one of the most powerful ever recorded, at 8.8 on the Richter scale.

Some 500 people were killed, and at least half a million homes were damaged.

More than 90 per cent of the population have been affected by power cuts.

Russia has already sent to Chile two planes with aid supplies.
